Re: price/hp

A close friend of mine that built my first head for me autocrossed an older
280Z with a pro-stock 350 in it preached to me that if you take care of the
ounces, the pounds will take care of themselves. I know we have a limited
amount of things we can take out of the car if we race street brackets, but
there are things you can do to help with the weight issue. I have two
really good examples: 1. I replaced my bumpers with euro bumpers, and on
my rabbit, that is probably close to 75lbs or so since it had big herkin
shocks on them. 2. I got rid of the knee bar in my car. What this calls
for is modifying the A2 under dash pockets to fit my A1 rabbit, then get the
regular seat belts, not the onces that are hooked to the door and don't
include lap belts. A little more work than the bumpers, but worth it. Not
only do I feel more safe, but I got rid of close to 40lbs of extra weight
and now have more places to store things. Other things that can be removed
include stuff like A/C, rear wipers, electric windows, sunroofs, basically
anything of comfort. Glass is really heavy also so some classes actually
let you replace your glass with plexiglass. But I'm getting a little to
advanced now. HTH!!
