Fw: Tires (50mm intakes)

everyone has done that, just honda gets all the fame. im not sure who came
out with it the very first, but toyota has the VVTL-i. rover had one for
theyre 4 cyl, porsche did too on the 968, and some other companys did also.
the thing is, that just changes when and/or how much the air enters the
engine. ford/mazda did something a bit different. the 93 probe gt's and up
have a "variable geometry intake" or somethingorother. after about 3500rpm
you suddenly get a surge of power on this car. its similar to when a turbo
kicks in, only not nearly as much power. the taurus sho (engine by yamaha)
has a two stage intake. after a certain rpm the shorter fatter runners open
up and dump loads of air into the engine. you can rev the sho to hell, and
still have power just because it can flow so much air. im surprised no one
came up with an electromagnetic valvetrain yet. that would make the valve
openings infinitely variable. one thing i was thinking of was, not that hole
bigger or smaller thing, but somthing similar to a chinese finger trap.
where if you pull on it, it stretches out and gets narrow, and when you push
it together it gets wide and short. but thats kinda tricky i s'pose. it
would leak air, so you would have to have a hose or something, that could
follow the movements, inside of it. hmmm......im just babbling!

have a good day people,
cory
