I'll jump on this bandwagon. Spray some carb cleaner in the rubber hose
and let it sit awhile after you reattach it. (Make sure it's O2 sensor
safe, if you have one on your car.)

They do loose their 'springiness' over time so a replacement might be in order.

Stop messing with the mixture to cure another problem. :)
