No US 82' Scirocco was ever a GTi. (Unfortunately) 
Its a GL or something like that. I took out the 1.7L motor and the wide
ratio tranny and installed a 1.8L motor and close ratio tranny out of an
84 GTi, so (Back then) I kinda figured it was upgraded to GTi specs, id
just install the GTi badge that I had found. 

Then I learned that later 8V Scirocco's came with the JH motor and the 4K
tranny. DOH! Not so special after all. LOL!!
