Very good point!

If you are replacing the clutch at the same time, it is easier to unbolt the
5th gear housing (after the tranny has been removed from the car)and just
take it out. Bentley details this very well. Now is also a good time to
replace the pushrod bushing and seal as well. Just remove the pushrod from
the tranny, take a 2 1/2 ft. long 3/8" rod (hardware store) insert it into
the hole where the throwout bearing was covering and lightly tap the end of
the rod with a hammer until you feel it pop out on the bellhousing side.
Install the new throwout bearing, and new 5th gear housing gasket, then
torque down the housing. Then install the new pushrod bushing and seal on
the other side (do the mainshaft seal while your there as well) then install
the pushrod. Install the clutch/flywheel assy, and the transmission and wha
la, back on the road.
If you are just replacing the throwout bearing Tosha's route is probably the
best way, but I wouldn't call it easy.
Probably more info than you wanted to know :)
