I tried 2 other knock boxes the other day, and they both did the same
thing, but that was before I replaced the off idle switch. I have a good
coil that I'm going to swap in later today, hopefully it will be the
coil.

What does the off idle switch do?

16VS2 Bentley 5-33 Throttle switches:
The idle switch supplies the control unit with a signal when the throttle
is fully closed, for idle air stabilizer control and deceleration fuel
shut off.

Hmmm... How does it "shut off" upon deceleration.
