On the road - finally!

Feels like a good day for a Friday. My Scirocco is now legally on the road
as of lunchtime today. I got plates and drove it back to work after lunch.
The speedo doesn't work (upper cable is toasted and I don't want to shell
out the cash for a new one just yet), one of the CV joints is bad, the
exhaust is loud as hell, and I have a rumble that I think might be from bad
tires (3 of them leak anyway, so I think I'll replace the set).

If I put a jumper in to give power to the cold start injector relay, it
starts right up. Actually, today was warm enough that I didn't bother. It
sputters pretty bad when cold, unless I run it wide open. Once I get it
warmed up the sputtering goes away, and it seems to drive okay once you get
over the steering wheel being turned almost 90 degrees to the right.

I'll be replacing the tires and bad CV joint soon, and I'm sure I'll run
into other things that need to be fixed. This is great - I've had it since
July, but I've had such little time to work on it that I was becoming
concerned that I would be driving my truck to Cincy in June.

Thanks for all the help to this point, and I look forward to more
information in the future.
