solid lifter 16v?

Has anyone on the list have any experience with this conversion ?
I know $chrick makes a kit but how much is it ? Is there an alternative to 
the $chrick setup ? 
I plan on doing up my spare 1.8 head soon and want to do all the stuff at 
once and I hear the kit requires machining so nows the time to investigate . 

PS . it was 60 and sunny here in MN , damn I gotta get the rocco out .
