[non] demo derby fun

  went to the county fair tonight to see the demolition derby. was
pretty cool. in the finals the second place car was grinding something
under the hood (sparks coming through the hole cut in the hood for the
exhaust) and finally gave up. not but five seconds later, the first
place finisher's car went up in flames. pretty cool way to end the
night.
  best part was there was a compact class. there was an '83 rabbit and a
'90 golf. the rabbit came out and beat the hell out of a coupla cars,
then got 'sided and broke the passenger side drive axle and wheel stub
in the back. the golf didn't do too well (guy didn't know how to drive).
at one point i thought there was a mki scirocco, but it ended up just
being an escort that got beaten into the approximate shape :)
