Re: Leak....argh



Unfortunately, I have some experience in this. What I've found is that the
padding under the carpet gets soaked, so just pull that out and let it dry
out of the car. Once things are dry I sprinkle baking soda under the carpet
and on the carpet itself to absorb the odor. Then vacuum the carpet. BTW,
don't put the baking soda on when the carpet is still wet. it will clump up
and be hard to remove.

As far as the source of the leak is concerned, the sky's the limit. I've
found recently that it's coming from the door and running down into and
under the carpet. Seems that water may be entering the door from the window
that runs up/down and instead of being routed outside it comes into the car.
There can be blocked holes in the bottom of the door causing this, or a
mis-aligned door that is seeping over the rubber weather strip and into the
car. Like I said, it could be anything. Water is very fluid and doesn't need
much of a space to get in.
