Re: Hill climbing Scirocco

Ed?,
I loved my 82 GT Coupe, it was quick off the line, and I could
cruise all day on I-5 from SJ to LA at close to 100mph, and
occasionally higher, and the car was extremely stable. My only
complaint was the way it handled. Mk1 and Mk2 Scirocco's would
run circles around it on a curvy mountain road or Auto X, the
Coupe was just heavy and not very nimble in stock form. My car
was bone stock so mod's may improve this.
Oh yeah and you can brag to others that you have a 5 cylinder
engine, this always dumbfounds those V-8 muscle car owners.

If I ever were to win the lottery I would pick up an Audi Sport Quattro,
(shortened, rallye version of the Quattro Coupe) now there is a FAST
car. I believe they were available in the late 80's in limited numbers,
and there are only about 7 of these in North America. The price tag for
one is probably over $150K. They had a couple of them on display at
the Monterey Bay Historic Races last year, awesome looking car.
I remember the 0-60 times on dirt (6 sec. range I think) were better than
the likes of Corvette, 911, and some Ferrari's on dry pavement.
Anyone know what the HP/Torque for these were?
Enough Audi Rambling.
Later,
-Randy
