Bummer!
I JUST did this fix myself on my GLi. The oil/water cooler POS leaked oil
into my cooling system. Same thing.
 
I capped the 2 lines and removed the cooler all together and just
installed a short threaded section from a regular oil filter housing.
Actually, I got the kit from Potterman. Simple installation.

I didn't flush the cooling system but simply drained the over flow tank
and refilled it. (Cleaned it out, of course.) Ive checked it since then
and the coolant is clean (No muddy goop) so I hope your problem is as
easily found and fixed as mine way. 

These coolers are famous for failing BTW. 
Got a megga migraine, gotta goto bed.
