Scirocco 16V With A Rear Shoulder Harness?

I just learned something new about the 16V Scirocco II.
I'm in the process of stripping my '87 Donor car and I was removing the
Fuba the rough way, tearing down the roof pillar fabric and there was a
threaded insert about 4" down from where the hatch lift support bolt to
the body.
I guess it is for a rear shoulder harness, did they come like that in
Europe, as an option maybe?

Since it is a sturdy mount, how about a bar that would connect the 2 rear
pillars together?
The mounts are pretty high up and it wouldn't affect the use of the trunk
as much as the Autotech, Neuspeed, or Eurosport rear bar. Then again it
probably wouldn't be as effective. Or maybe it could be used in
conjunction with a rear stressbar.

Mk 1 don't have that threaded insert do they?
