Re: upper strut bushings



Not only will trimming the spacers make it harder to
turn, but it will also screw with your alignment. 
Example: You'll make a right turn and the steering
will remain cocked to the right.  You'll make a left
turn and well, you get the picture.  Had this happen
with a guy that brought his GTi into the shop.  He did
the struts himself and left the spacers off...  On
stock upper bearings the strut actually rides on the
lower plate.  By trimming the spacer, the bolt will
contact the upper plate causing friction between the
strut shaft and the upper plate.
