Re: Bilstein Inserts

Wait, I'm confused. You already had Bilsteins and you replaced them with
Bilsteins. First question is: I thought Bilsteins were lifetime warranty.
So you should just have to get them rebuilt (for free), right? Second
question is if you were already using Bilsteins, did you buy just inserts
the first time? Were you using the stock strut housings with the first set?
If you've been using the stock strut housings all along with both sets of
Bilstein inserts, why do you notice a difference now? Shouldn't you have
felt the flimsyness of the stock strut housings all along?

Hopefully you can clear up my confusion because I will be going down the
suspension update road next year!

A couple of months ago I replaced my front struts (seven year old Bilstein
sports) because one was broken and they were seven years old. I made the
mistake of going cheap and I bought the sport inserts instead of the
complete assembly. As someone stated before, the sleeves on the Bilstein is
thicker than the stock and you do give up some firmness when you do not
spend the extra bucks and go with the entire Bilstein strut/shock assembly.
For street use, the inserts are fine....very roadable. On the AutoX is
where you can tell the difference. If you are thinking about going to
Bilsteins....Buy the entire assembly.
