Casey,
Do you live in a cold climate? This was to aid in fast warm up of the
engine. There should also be a flapper valve in the Y section near the
airbox that shuts off the air from the exhaust manifold once the engine
warms up. I threw that away so long ago that I don't even remember how it
worked. Unless you live in a very cold climate I would toss it in favor of
one that just receives cold air from the front of the car. Any one out there
working in the snow, using a nearby snowdrift to block the wind from hitting
you, have one of these stock setups that actually works. Is it possibly
worth keeping on the car during the winter? I don't want to steer anyone
wrong based on my experience in this warm CA climate. 8)
