Hmmm. This is interesting. I can get both styles all day long brand new. 
They are German VW OE equipment. Where do you live? The fact that only one 
part # is available when you order a part is the way it should be. I am sure 
if you told them you needed a switch for a different model/year that they 
would have a different part # than the other one.
