now that's wrong on so many levels (why don't you just make fun of my
mama?). sometimes parts just fail. the belt had about 45k on it with plans
to replace in the spring. i check under the timing belt cover all the time,
and there was no indication whatsoever that it had a problem. in fact, when
i removed it, the belt seemed to be in good shape except for the missing
teeth around the crank sprocket. the others didn't look like they were about
to fail. and yes, i'm very bitter right now.
