Very odd that it has a Hydraulic head. To my
knowledge, VW never had a hydraulic head that would
fit the 1588cc block family of engines (which the 1457
and 1715cc blocks are also based on). 

However, the 1.8 hydraulic head can be modified to fit
the 1.6 blocks - are you sure that it is a hydrualic
head?
