I have no idea about the benefits of hooking up relays to the US spec
sealed beam units.  But if you want more light, you could try the Hella
H1/H4 4X6 lights.  They are a direct replacement for the US lights, they
look the same, and will run about $40 a piece.   You can replace two
units or four, depending on what you are looking for.  I have the H4's
for the high/low beams and the H1's for high and love 'em.  Plus, they
don't look blatantly illegal...
