Re: sunroof replacement or repair???

When I went in to the 'usual' autoglass stores that sell 'universal'
sunroofs, They measured the hole and said they couldn't put a glass one in,
and that I'd have to go to a body shop and get them to fit it.

Previous to this, I attempted to fix the lining on my sunroof, and the unit
was removed quite easily. I managed to disassemble the unit and put a fresh
liner in. Everything was fine until I tried to get it back in. The timing
of the drive chain has to be perfect or you won't be able to move the roof
with the crank. I attempted several times in getting the unit timed right,
but never did get it to work . In the end the chains got really bent and
the spot welds were destroyed. So I threw out the chains and now have a
manually operated sliding roof.

Hope this helps, and good luck.

Mike
