OK, but on that note, I would say that the air to oil cooler will work
just fine by itself. Removing the heat exchanger will also allow the oil
to heat faster to get into optimal operating temp faster. But read on...

Unfortunately, I have never worked directly using solenoids and the
temperature sensors in our cars, so this is really just a brainstorm.

I was thinking of using a solenoid to open and close the relocated/inline
heater core valve. I *think* the solenoid varies position as the voltage
is varied, or at least you can get ones that do. Then you rig up the
temperature sender(s) to vary this voltage.

You might be able to use just one sender and set a temp at which to
trigger the whole thing, and it would probably work fine.

However, I had the idea of using both the water and the oil temps and rig
them (through some "box") so that whenever the water temp was lower than
the oil temp, the solenoid would be open, and vice versa.

IF i was doing this major effort myself I would first wire up oil and
water temp gauges, so I could see exactly what the water and oil temp
relationship is at various temps and driving styles.

I have a meeting to go to so I gotta go, but I'll think some more about
it, and we can try to explore this further. I'm excited about such an
innovative system, and if I can help, I'm happy.
