Re: relaying my 16v computers on my '81 scirocco

I woke up early and tired to do this, and it still wouldn't start.

I know all the components are good, cause I drove the Jetta that originally
had this engine home just fine.

A while ago, I put in a wire from the coil positive to terminal #4 on the
ignition control unit which in turn powers the whole CIS-E system.

This morning, I put a relay on that circuit. The power from the coil powers
the relay, and then the CIS-E system is powered right from the battery.

I know that works, cause numerous relays click, but it still doesn't catch.

There's a black two wire connector (T2)... On this is a red/yellow wire that
comes from #10 on the knock sensor box to the fuel pump relay as the rev
limiter. Also a red/white wire that goes to the O2 sensor.

Then, there's a white three wire connector, where a red/black wire going
from the #15 on starter that goes to #24 on the big computer. The other
wires (black) are all power +.

At this clump was where I gave the whole system power from coil positive.

Aside from splicing in the coil wires from the car's original wiring, I
don't know what I'm doing wrong. It's really pissing me off cause I've been
out a Scirocco for like three months now.

As it stands now, the computers turn on as I turn the key to the on
position, but as I start the car, there's no spark. I know the computers
remain on as I'm starting it because the relay I installed does not turn off
as I start the car.
