RE: tires. . . (215/40/16)

<x-charset iso-8859-1>Perhaps you missed the thread of posts about my recent purchase of 215/40/16
tires. I considered everything available at Tire Rack (and elsewhere) and
wound up going with the new Toyo Proxes T1-S because Toyo claims it to have
equal dry traction to the T1-Plus. As you may know, the T1-Plus has a
reputation as being a very sticky street tire with the only complaint being
longevity. The T1-S has a new tread compound with higher silica content
that's supposed to offer the best of both worlds -- increased friction
coefficient and higher wear.

I'm pleased with the T1-S tires and would definitely recommend them. Not
cheap at $148 each, but I think they equal or exceed everything else on the
market in 215/40/16 in dry traction. If you care at all about wet weather
performance, you can't beat this tire.

If you're on more of a budget, I would consider the Yoko A520 at $112 each.
