<x-charset iso-8859-1>The November edition of the U.K. mag Classic & Sports Cars has a two page
write-up on the Mk1.  I'm happy to email a copy of the article in the form
of .gif files to anyone who wants it.  Just email me privately.

It does quote one specialist who say, "As long as there's oil and water in
them they'll go on forever."  Hmmm!  He forgot to add "and an unused credit
line".'  In fairness though, he did go on to add that parts are available
and inexpensive.
