Headlights

<x-charset iso-8859-1>I know this has been hit on quite a bit but I have only seen the aftermath
and not the solutions. I have a 16v Rabbit that everything (motor, trans,
axles, computers, ENTIRE wiring harness, etc) came from an 88 Scirocco 16v.
Don't worry, it was TOTALLED!!! Anyway, I have a 'headlights' question. I
had the 4 headlight system it my Rabbit and figured I could just hook them
up the same way they were hooked up on the Scirocco. When I did this, the
inner headlights (high beam only) would be on very dimly when my low beams
were on. Recently I did away with the center lights (still have them, not
sure if I want them in or out yet) and put H4s in with 90/130 watt bulbs.
The same thing is happening. The low beam is a little dimmer than normal
and the high beam is slightly on. I used my multimeter and found around 3v
going to the high beam when the low beam was on. So, I took my power probe
(essential when doing electrical stuff!!!) and grounded the high beam wire
while the low beams were on and the high beam went out totally and the low
beam got a little brighter! And of course, I couldn't leave the ground on
when I switch to high beams because it would blow a fuse (blew the breaker
in my power probe). Anyone have any ideas? I checked grounds and they all
seem to be fine. I figured I would just relay them but with this mystery
voltage to the high beams when on low, I don't know if it would work. Oh, I
also installed the 16v combo switch and it didn't make any difference.
Please anyone have any ideas, let me know!!! Thanks in advance!!

Dave

P.S. Anyone that went to the Octobugfest in Puyallup mention on the list
the 72 Super Beetle with the Cadillac Eldorado 500 V8 in it!! It was cool.
Owner said it got better gas mileage than the stock 1600! It had emblems on
it that said "8.2L 16v"!!
