I see the confusion now, I was referring to the flywheel bolts, which are
9mm hex.
They take a 9mm 12 pointed socket.

The inner cv joint bolts are indeed 8mm triple square, even though they
are closer to 6mm.
Btw, I use that tool when I strip a 6mm allen bolt, like the ones on the
crank pulley, I hammer the tool in and use my IR air gun.

Those early axles used 6mm allen bolts, but hey were not hex, they were
allen.
