RE: Hot MKI article

<x-charset iso-8859-1>No. There are no performance chips available for CIS-E. The only thing close
is an adjustable fuel enrichment module. Autotech makes one, and I believe
Mr. Honnold makes them also. It adds a few ponies and eliminates the rev
limiter from what I hear. It makes an especially large difference when used
with a 2.0l and cams :)

with P&P, ECU modding (ignition recurving etc. etc., ceramic coated pistons,
and the whole 9 yards that motor should be putting out much more than
175-200hp :) The 1.8t with a chip alone, puts out 200hp, and about equal
torque ratings. Thanks,

I don't know if any of you guys Stateside get the 'Golf' magazine but there
is an interesting MKI scirocco in this month's edition which sounds like it
would be a hot ride. It has been built by a British VW modder as a demo car
- he's done a few sciroccos in the past. I didn't get much of a look at the
article but what I can remember is as follows:

Stripped-out interior, painted silver, clean no frills exterior - no
body-kit, pretty large wheels - look like compomotive 5-spokes but can't
remember what they were.

20v 1.8 engine from a 1.8T audi whith P&P head and various other mods I
can't remember - ceramic coating of pistons etc. I think is one of them.
Turbo has been ditched in favour of a g60 charger with custom intercooler
setup.

AWD courtesy of a modified A2 ralleye transmission. A neat feature for
shows is that the rear diff is visible through a window cut in the floorpan.

A bunch of other details I can't remember!

There weren't any specs listed but I'd imagine it would be somewhere in the
175-200BHP range assuming the ECU has been suitably upgraded.

If anyone is interested I can maybe get a scan of the article later in the
week.

Cheers,

Ewan Hopkins
