snow/winter tire recommendations

<x-charset iso-8859-1> i know that there are many opinions about tires and i'm assuming this
is the same for snow/winter tires as well. i live in ohio and here we
get more ice and freezing rain than snow (or snow on top of it). after
running into a toyota last year (read as some dumbass parked his rice
patty in the middle of the road and i slid approx. 50 yards and i had
only been doing 25 and i DID down-shift and still hit him; 30 seconds
later the salt truck came by) and the road was not the greatest and i'd
like to avoid that if possible again this year. i was thinking about
dunlop's, but i'll go with what the better tire is (i'm looking on
tirerack right now). any suggestions? how 'bout for new tires once the
ones i have now die?
