Mark, you may not have seen the E-Bay sale of just such an 'aftermarket'
steering wheel. :) It is the Official Mark One Model. As I see you have
a Mk2 it's understandable not knowing. The center cap you are referring
to is, what exactly? (Perhaps the under-ring that works the horn, eh?)
