exhaust question. . . leak

Hello,

I just installed a TT downpipe/cat on my 16v and am
experiencing a small leak at the slit in the exhaust
right behind the catalytic converter.  Everything
seems to be sitting in there at the right spot. . .
how tight is too tight for clamp?  Is this normal? 
How do I wrastle this thing to stop the leak?
