My car does something along the same lines...it runs hotter at night then 
during the day and things like that. I think I screwed up my fan switch and 
thermo combo. So as soon as my thermo opens my fan switch comes 
on.........the car never has any equilibrium. Runs cooler in 4th gear on the 
highway then 5th.....
