RE: Motor Mounts Re: scirocco-L-digest V1 #1221

<x-charset iso-8859-1>Dread! a place by my house has those inserts that eliminate the gap on the
passenger side. They are something like 5$ a piece, and are made by bugpack.
I will pickup a couple while I am there, seeing as I want one anyways.

You know, I normally consider Techtonic's advice to be beyond reproach.
However, as of a tech session last night at Chris Chemidlin's house I'm
now thinking that they're becoming a bunch of softies in their old age.
:^)

With Chris's help I installed a "racing" rear transaxle mount. It is
made of hard rubber which is noticeably harder than stock.

What else can I do to control the motor's torquing? Has anyone tried
those poly inserts that eliminate the air space in the passenger's side
mount? From where can those be purchased and for how much?

I dunno anything about those inserts... you have to take the whole thing
apart to install them, so you might as well use a new mount anyway...

What I plan on installing on the uGLi is a 'turnbuckle' top mount. I think I

saw one in an IT car or something...

Ya know that little hole on the driver side of the head? You attach a hook
that has about 6" of all-thread on it. Attach a similar one to the rad
support, and connect them together with a turnbuckle. You can loosen it up
for street driving, then tighten it when you're gonna flog it. That would
stop the engine from rocking backward.

Guess I got bigger fish to fry on the uGLi riggt now, tho!
