Maybe this is true...the reason it might not be is the hood line and
rain tray area.   Both of these are different on the MK1 from the MK2.

For instance, Jarrett is fitting a 16v engine to his Rabbit Convertible,
and the upper bar he got is for the Rabbit 16v conversion...as far as
I can tell, it's just the Scirocco 16v bar.  Anyway, it BARELY fits
due to rain tray area clearance issues, in face we'll probably have
to bend it back a little.  Anyway, obviously, the cars are all A1's,
but some of these key dimensions are a bit different in the different
models from personal experience.  Maybe someone with both could answer
this for us.
