re: Audi TT flame _non rocco_

As a two-time 'rocco owner who will be buying a TT I feel qualified to
answer:

I like cars. I like a whole range of cars. Why limit myself to just
'roccos? I especially like cars with manual transmissions, low seating
positions, good power to weight ratios, two doors, no or minimal back
seats, and design features that set them apart from the normal lima
bean shape so often seen on US highways. (Those of you who live in
Europe don't have quite the problem with "marketing clinic-driven car
shape homoginization" that we in the US do. Must be something to do
with the better taste of the masses perhaps?)

Will I get rid of my 'rocco? No. Never. (Unless I can't keep the
sticky side down or it gets totaled by a blind Delta-88 driving 84
year-old like the first one. In which case I'll buy another one.) But
I've got room for another car or two and right now the TT is in my
opinion the only new German made car in the price range that meets my
above likes that is suitable for daily driving in _all_ weather
conditions i.e. scratch convertibles (Boxster, Z3, etc) and rear wheel
drive cars that have any meat on the back and the power to use it.

(And, yes, the 'rocco is suitable for daily driving in all weather
conditions but I'm about to embark on serious project which will keep
it off the road for a long time and need a reliable replacement.)

As for most everything else it's a matter of personal taste. And to
the person who's 'rocco is going to eat up TTs when he finishes it: If
you can dine on the 225 horse Quattro TT let's talk; I've obviously
missed something in planning my up-coming 'rocco project. (Besides
adding cylinders...)

And to the person who wrote that he doesn't like anything VW (or Audi)
is making: I quite agree. Since the Corrado was axed in 93 VW hasn't
made anything that I really wanted to buy. Although if the planned 300
hp VR8 equipped Jetta "M-Killer" makes it to the US I might consider
setting aside my dislike of VW's current product line.

Macsek, Love the ASCII cat. Mind if I steal it?
