Sway bar questions.

I have an 87 scirocco 16v. I remove the front sway bar to change my down
pipe. I'm wondering if there are any trick to making it easier to re
install. I've driven the car without it on, I assume this is ok since my
rabbit was an a1 chassis and didn't have one, any thoughts or ideas on
this anyone?
