No you were not an ididot for taking out the AC.

You were a genius for removing the A/C!!!!!!

I put a stock non a/c setup in my 1982 (as I will the 1981 S).

It makes life soooooo much easier - I can now play football in the engine bay (translation: working on the Alt./Waterpump/radiator is extremely easier).

As a bonus, your car is lighter :)

(This is easy for me to say, I still retain one A/C car)
