question? coolant expansion tank's sensor-area leaking coolant??

hey all
hope you all had a good 4th. as i went out the car today noticed a small
dried puddle of what looked to me like coolant underneath the driver's side
front wheel. i popped the hood, took a look and nothing.. so i figured i
coincidently parked my wheel over someone else's mess. well, on the way
back i stopped the car and decided to take another look. sure enough, not
10 seconds after i went to prop open the hood i saw a puddle of coolant
coming from around the driver's side front wheel. after propping open the
hood, i saw coolant leaking from the expansion tank's sensor - upon closer
inspection (the engine's still hot) i noticed that the coolant was coming
from four sides of the sensor, so i thought maybe this was normal. plus,
the expansion tank has this little "bridge" of sorts, and when the coolant
leaked from the center where the sensor is, it looked like this was the
planned escape route for coolant. i'm going back to the car in a few
minutes to take another look (and bentley's made no mention of this). is
what i've experienced normal??? or did my mechanic put on the sensor
incorrectly thereby leaving some gap exposed??
tia,
dave
