RE: cleaning the engine bay - powerwash??

I use either Castrol or Simple Green cleaner and my normal house garden
hose. If it's really dirty, the engine degreaser will be better for getting
it really clean, but then use the Simple Green every few months to keep it
clean. I used the Castrol stuff even the first time, and it did a pretty
good job. It's not as toxic easier to use, and doesn't stain the pavement.

Obviously, you don't want to totally DRENCH your electrical components, but
most people seem to agree (this was asked recently) that it isn't really
necessary to cover anything. Just use only as much water as you need.

Also be prepared to re-wax your car from the doors forward. If any of that
stuff washes or splatters on the paint (and it WILL!) it will take the wax
off completely. Last time I made the mistake of waxing my car the day
before, and had to do the front end all over again!
