Re: clutch cables?  which is which?  8v or 16v?

How can you tell which clutch cable is in your car?
I might buy an 8v Scirocco that has a 16v body and the clutch is WAY at the
bottom of the pedal press..  how might one check to see if its the clutch
that is bad or if its the cable that is wrong? Any quick way??

thanks,

For MK2 Sciroccos, 16V bodies are the same as 8V bodies.

16V Sciroccos came with self adjusting clutch cables.

8V sciroccos came with manual adjust cables.

You can use an 8V cable on a 16V.

Does this answer your question? There should be a small amount of "free play" at the pedal (3/16"?) - When driving the car, at what point when you are "releasing" the pedal does the clutch engage?
