I've heard this thing is plug and replacment, a good upgrade for any
early car. I am not aware of any model were it wont work. Doesnt mean
it'll fit a new A4 Jetta, just means I think it will work in our cars.

Isn't this the same situation as the one above? I think they came on
some cars prior to the A2s and I've pinched on from the junkyard too.
When I get the rubber gasket from the potterman I'm goung to switch my
valve cover back over to the 1.7 style and slip the antisplash unit in
there too.

I have an 84, and have been turning on ignition a waiting for a coupl eof seconds before I fire up the car thinking that I am pressurizing the system. Is this not happening? I think so b/c sometimes the car cranks a few times before catching, instead of firing right up on the first go.

I belive it's adaptable to the early cars as well. Man, you are a
goldmine of retrofitting info! :)

> 4) Anyone taken valve adjusting shims from old solid head A1s and used'em again? Not b/c I 'm a cheap bastard (they are only $1.75 a piece) but b/c I can't find a place that has them stock. I have to order them, and I am thinking I could spend an afternoon at the junkyard tommorrow and get myself a nice little collection. QUESTION: Do they wear out a lot, or is it safe to use old ones (I don't have a micrometer to measure them)? Maybe it ain't worth it, and I should just order them?

Hmmm, without a micrometer I'd be leary, how much time will it take to
order new ones?
