Cross flow heads in ALL 16vs?

I was wondering if 16v and X-flow were synonimus ( man, I miss my spell
checker. )

I was diggin' the NewsGroup today and these guys started in on dual down
pipes ( dual exhaust he called it. ) and why they had a dual down pipe on
some non-Super-Duper cars.

So, I was wondering about the 16v head. Does it have a cross flow head?
I've never spent much time with them because I'm focused on Mk1s but I
remember there being a pretty large valve cover something or the other.
WTF? Oops, sorry. I meant WTH?

For the folks who don't know what I'm talking about, Cross flow heads have
the air intake feeding the 'front' side of the engine, the side up by the
rad., and the exhaust coming out the back side. After all, doesn't
everybody's exhaust come out the backside? Standard engines have the intake
and exhaust coming and going on the same back side of the engine.

Pls enlighten me, O' Cognicenti.
