according to my speedometer calculator, @ 80mph (with 3.94 final drive)
your rpms should be

.75 5th-------> 3494rpm
.80 5th-------> 3727rpm
.85 5th-------> 3960rpm
.91 5th-------> 4239rpm (stock for 2H)

maybe someone slipped you a .85 instead of a .75?  and did you swap the
speedo gear from the green one to the white one?
