exhaust flex pipe

Ja, thats just a crappy small stock flex pipe to take some of the beating
so your manifold doesn't rip the studs outta yer aluminum head. I wouldn't
replace it w/ a straight pipe just to be safe.. There are a few options you
can go with..
 1. Get a 5 dollar used 4dr rabbit flex pipe at the boneyard (gotta be a
4-door!! ;)
 2. get a dual outlet downpipe from techtonics/autotech for 150 bucks. this
eliminates the stock d/p/flex pipe and is 2 or 2 1/4"s all the way to the
cat (this is what I did, it's great)
 3. Get a header that eliminates the pipe.
 4. Get an exhaust shop to weld up one of those new flex pipes outta woven
steel stuff, those are cool! I'm doing this for my turbo.

What do ya wanna spend? :)

I've heard those ribbed stock jobbies can blow out at high enough back
pressure because they are so small. 100+ wheel hp I'd guess, check the
performance VW faq, thats where i read that.
Or you can always try to weld it up! :)
