Scirocco Classification

Well, here I was, all set to buy a rocco and race it in the ST class (SCCA
Autocross), and now they've just updated the ST rules... This year they've
added to the "four seats, four seatbelts, normally aspirated engine no larger
than 3.1L"  the line "not sports-car based". Dammit. Does this rule out a
Scirocco? I know it would my other choice, an RX7 (2+2). Is the Scirocco
sports-car based? I mean, I know we're all inclined to say YES without
considering it, I know the rocco my mom previously owned was certainly a
sports car... but being based on the same platform as the rabbit, would this
still be true?
