Mechanically challenged newbie

Thanks to everyone who responded to my questions concerning my new 87
Scirocco. This list is the coolest and most helpful resource for
Scirocco owners like me who can change the oil and spark plugs, but
thats about it.

It seems like the first thing I need to do is purchase a Bentley
manual and follow that. The cars interior and body are in awesome
shape and the engine, as far as I can tell, is in great shape. The
father of the guy I bought it from is a VW mechanic and it has been
taken care of. The only problems I've been able to find are a noisy
belt (only when I start it cold, as it warms up the noise stops), the
tires may be a bit out of balance and there is a hum from the rear of
the passengers side of the car. It sounds like it might be coming
from the rear radio speaker.

I'll begin to make mods and improvements as I can afford to do so, my
wife gets 90% of my money (of course), and all the money I did have
went to buying and transporting the car from Naples, Fla to Princeton,
WVa.

I can't express my joy of finally owning another Scirocco. My first
car was a '77 and ever since I sold it I've been eyeing them where
ever I can. With the invent of the Internet I realized I could get
one in good shape for a decent price.

Once again, thanks a lot and I'm sure I'll be tapping into the amazing
amount of knowledge on this list.
