Grab Bag of accumulated tips.

Knock out the old windows to retain the gasket, they are hard to come
by.

Bed sheet spread across interior helps to contain shards.

Take the opportunity to detail the area around the edge of the window
opening now that is exposed, apply antirust-proofing to channel and
edges.

A strong cord can be laid in the channel to help slip the second lip of
the rubber grommet up and into place. Liquid soap will help it slip and
slide.

Two people are recommended, to maneuver and hold in place.
