Oh, and to actually try and answer your question..heh, heh...

I used engine paint, the kind of stuff that didn't need to be
baked in an oven to set up properly.  Bought it at Pep Boys for
just a few dollars, used silver/aluminum color.  They had quite
a selection if I remember correctly.
