Re: Transmission "upgrade" (16V owners in particular)



They are rod linkage units.  Unfortunately from the standpoint of accuracy
and shift throw VW didn't decide to use rod linkage units with the VR6 cars.
The cable shifters are much smoother than the rod linkage shifters, but not
as precise and the shift throws are much longer.  In addition it is a hell
of a lot cheaper to put a short shift kit on a rod linkage tranny, like $50
vs. $200-350.
