from what i have seen and heard, the supercharger may be a better unit
for this application. a lot of people that i have talked to with a
_really_ quick car tell me that the secret lies in short gear ratios.
since the supercharger works best at low rpms, then it should be the
logical choice for the dragstrip.

anyone ever read about the dutch dude jeroen dik that builds those mad
16V G60s and whatnot? he's got a 1.8 8V G60 in his mk1 golf and is
pushing 300hp out of it. apparently he crosses the 1/4 mile mark at
8000rpm in 5th gear! (he's built himself a sequential 6-speed box, btw)

since the turbo works better at high rpms, maybe it would be better
suited for circuits? a friend of mine has a 16V turbo mk2 golf. it's
pretty quick, but i dunno how quick for sure cuz he never wants to race
me. it sounds nice and from what he has shown, it moves well, but i
seem to think that a supercharger might be a little more unique. every
honda seems to have some turbo NOS system under the hood. i like being
different, just my opinion.

i dunno. this is just a couple of cents from my pockets. what do you
folks think?
